The traditional upfront lemon yoghurty zing, but a lovely amount of length with a surprising number of notes of the region imparted by its natural rind. Delightfully complex, earthy, mushroom and mineral. The texture is noticeably different to its historical counterparts, not as crumbly but smooth, creamy, and sticky. All tied together provides a different but very welcoming taste experience.

"Old Roan & Perry will be getting to know each other for the next couple of months, so he'll mimic the farmers maturing rooms. He has a space which should get us pretty close 8-10 degrees and 85-90% Humidity. I'll update as we deviate from this."

Ben and Sam Spence

Ben has been farming his whole life – his grandad purchased Home Farm back in 1953. Sam is a newbie to farming - Ben first introduced Sam to the cows when they met in 2012 and she’s loved it ever since. We are both trained in other skills - Ben is an accountant and Sam is an actuary - but farming is a way of life and we just couldn’t keep away!


We are the only farmhouse cheesemaker in Wensleydale. A hundred years ago almost every dairy farm would have made their own cheese.


We also sell fresh milk in reusable glass bottles from our milk vending machine. It lives inside a horse box converted into a mobile shop, which is parked in a different Wensleydale village each day of the week."
