What is a Mystery Cheese Box?

Rennet and Rind’s Mystery Cheese Box is a monthly selection of the best British artisan cheeses delivered fresh to your door. It’s a celebration of the finest independent farm cheesemakers from across the UK, from the tip of Scotland to the coast of Cornwall. They come to our maturing room and are lovingly curated every month by our very own affineur, Britain’s first-ever “Affineur of the Year” and a former World Cheese Awards judge.

 

Our Mystery Cheese Box is the perfect setup for a night of cheese tasting, a wonderful gift box or hamper for any occasion for the cheese-lover in your life, or a welcome treat for yourself on a cosy night in. Plus, we can help tailor the perfect gift box with personalised messages and extra indulgences such as cheese books, cheeseboards or drink pairings.

 

Our Mystery Cheese Boxes sell quickly every month, but if you want to guarantee a box is delivered as soon as it’s available, consider our monthly subscription and never miss out again. We have multiple rolling subscriptions if you want to spread out the boxes according to your preferences, from bi-monthly to quarterly subscriptions.

Open up your Mystery Cheese Box and you’ll find five British artisan cheeses, a pack of complimentary cheese biscuits and a paper guide taking you through the journey with detailed tasting notes explaining the beauty behind each cheese.

 

To add to the experience, choose from our extra special editions which come with additional beer pairings, a cheese book or our branded Rennet and Rind cheeseboard, so you can complement, learn about and adorn your cheese spread and immerse yourself further in the world of artisan cheeses.

How Does the Cheese Get To You?

All our cheese is selected and picked from the maturing room on the day of dispatch, cut, and hand-wrapped within 24 hours of delivery to ensure maximum flavour. Our Mystery Cheese Boxes are no different, and come packaged in a refrigerated box to maintain freshness. Standard delivery will take approximately 3-5 working days, and express delivery will be with you within 1-3 working days. Plus, we offer free UK delivery on all orders over £55.

FREQUENTLY ASKED CHEESE BOX QUESTIONS

Will my cheese stay fresh during delivery?

We package our cheese box deliveries in well-insulated boxes with ice packs inside to ensure that your cheese stays fresh along the journey.

 

Depending on the style of cheese, the majority of cheese we cut and wrap has approximately 7-10 days of shelf life. This matches industry standards and shelf life guidelines provided by the SCA (Specialist Cheese Makers Association).

 

Additionally, we also place an ‘At Its Best Before’ date, which is when your cheese is as fresh as it can be. We believe there’s a very special window of time between cutting fresh and your enjoyment. The cheese is still excellent after this date and 100% food-safe, but we are just informing you of that next-level experience.

 

If you are concerned about use-by dates, give us a call, and we can time your delivery date to make sure you get the maximum possible. 

How should I store any leftover cheese?

If you’re looking to save part of our cheese selection box for a later date, wrap it in its original packaging and place it in a sealed plastic or glass container in the fridge. For best results, fold a piece of kitchen cloth and slightly dampen it with clean water before placing it in the container.

The cheeses within our Mystery Cheese Box are chosen by Perry Wakeman, our in-house affineur and two-time winner of the prestigious “Affineur of the Year” award - he was the first Brit to win it the first time around. Rest assured that each monthly cheese box contains the best of Britain, curated by the best of Britain.

When do you change the contents of the box?

The cheese inside our cheese selection box changes every month, so each turn of the calendar brings a different experience curated by our affineur.
